ReneWave perspective · AC & DC protection

    Suntree

Suntree specializes in electrical protection, including photovoltaic DC equipment. Our Budget selection keeps breakers, fuse links, holders and surge protectors distinct. A yellow module or a high voltage on its label does not identify its complete function.

    01 / Who they are

    A Chinese protection manufacturer.

Suntree’s manufacturer chronology records entry into the new-energy market in 2007, with electrical protection as its focus. Later stages added grid equipment, research centres and connected protection. The current Suntree Electric legal entity has a later 2018 date; it should not replace the earlier business history. For PV and storage, the useful distinction is functional: DC breakers interrupt overcurrent, gPV fuses protect appropriate PV circuits, and surge devices limit transient overvoltage. None substitutes for the other two.

The manufacturer’s corporate origins are not the manufacturing country of every supplied device. Read the exact label and documents.

    Business development and revenue

Suntree’s development widened from new-energy protection into grid systems, connected devices and EV charging. These are separate business branches; a dated connected-breaker milestone does not make every present breaker a connected product. The reviewed manufacturer records do not provide a reliable completed annual revenue series through 2025, so the article follows documented industrial milestones instead.

No verified public annual revenue series through 2025 was identified. Milestones describe business development, not a measured revenue trend.

    Business milestones

    1. New-energy protection begins

The manufacturer dates the founding business to May and identifies new energy as its market focus. This precedes current model families.

    2. Research centres expand development

The Shenzhen and Zhuhai research operations broaden electrical product development after the earlier grid-business expansion.

    3. Connected protection joins the portfolio

The industrial-park and connected-breaker stage adds monitoring and cloud integration. These capabilities remain model-specific, not inherent to every DC protective device.

    SL7 / SM8

    DC circuit interruption

SL7 modular and SM8 molded-case references have their own documented pole connections and voltage-qualified capacities. SL7-63 NP is a non-polarity DC breaker family; the pictured two-pole C32 / 800 V marking remains specific to that configuration. Rated DC voltage and pole wiring must match the string, including cold Voc; the housing alone does not establish suitability.

A four-pole DC arrangement does not imply four independent circuits.

Use only the documented configuration and polarity behavior.

SRF / SRD example; not every variant

    SRF / SRD

    Fuse link and separate holder

SRF gPV links perform interruption; SRD holders retain a compatible link. The holder’s rating is not the link’s current rating. The SRF-30 example uses a 15 A / 1000 V PV fuse. Fuse current, the holder’s current limit and the module’s maximum series-fuse rating are separate checks. A fuse is sacrificial overcurrent protection, not the same switching function as a breaker.

A family page can offer several documented fuse currents without merging their ratings.

No safe load-switching function is inferred for a holder.

    SUP2-PV / SUP1

    DC and AC surge protection

Surge protection devices have separate PV DC and AC applications. Uc, Up, In and Imax describe different surge characteristics. SUP2-PV is surge protection: it limits transient overvoltage through a coordinated earth path. Its 1000 V DC designation is not an overload-current rating. SPD type, voltage protection level, backup protection and conductor length remain design parameters.

The circuit application matters more than the enclosure color.

Surge-current figures are not short-circuit breaking capacities.

    Key terms

Short definitions for the names used in this guide.

    AC / DC / gPV / SPD
Circuit type, fuse category and surge function describe different properties. None replaces the exact model ratings.

A current rating alone does not establish function, fault protection or circuit suitability.

03 / What stands behind the brand

    Budget

A Budget selection with the distinctions intact.

A focused protection portfolio, rather than color-based identification.

Our positioning applies to the selected range. The documented differences above explain the choice.

    Configuration-specific documentation

The retained DC documents separate pole wiring and rated electrical duties. Family headline values are not copied to every model.

    Surge terminology kept separate

Manufacturer surge tables identify continuous voltage, protection level and discharge currents as separate characteristics.

    Three complementary PV protections

DC breakers, PV fuses and SPDs address switching, overcurrent and transient overvoltage. Their documented roles support an engineered protection scheme; one attractive DC-voltage marking does not establish a complete protected installation.

Published characteristics are useful evidence, not a promise of trouble-free operation or fast local warranty handling. Newer models do not inherit decades of field history from the company’s age.

    05 / Warranty & buyer questions

    Warranty coverage

The exact reference, market and supplied terms govern coverage. A datasheet or compliance certificate is not itself a warranty.

Coverage depends on the supplied terms

A universal manufacturer warranty duration for the listed references was not verified. Product defects are assessed under the applicable supplied warranty; protection coordination, installation faults and misuse are separate matters.

    Product cover and system performance

Manufacturer product cover concerns qualifying defects in the supplied equipment. It does not establish the complete installation’s performance, an energy-yield guarantee or a fixed local claim-response time.

    Questions before you buy

No. The exact label and document distinguish AC from PV DC surge devices.

No. A compatible fuse link performs the interruption.

No. Pole arrangement and the exact configuration determine the documented voltage and capacity.

Understand the brand. Choose the exact reference.
