01 / Who they are
Founded in Morocco in 1975 by the Sekkat family, Ingelec began by manufacturing switches, drawing on its existing plastics experience. It expanded into low-voltage installation and distribution products. That electrical-installation history explains its place in our solar catalogue: enclosures and cable-management parts support the surrounding installation. Its published history does not date a dedicated photovoltaic product launch. Our listed Metalbox units are empty enclosures, not manufacturer-assembled solar AC/DC protection boxes.

The business grew from switches into a wider electrical portfolio. Dated catalogues document the installation families relevant to our selection; their publication dates are evidence of availability in those records, rather than first-production dates.

For this installation range, the important advances are practical differences in construction and function. The records establish the families and their characteristics; they do not establish a launch year for every reference.
Empty steel enclosures
The listed cabinets range from 400 × 300 × 200 to 800 × 600 × 260 mm. IP55 and IK10 describe ingress and impact resistance. Their powder-coated RAL 7035 steel envelope receives separately selected equipment.
Choose space for equipment, cable entries and later access.
An IP rating does not establish suitability for every outdoor or corrosive environment.
Perforated mounting plates
Galvanized 2 mm plates provide a mounting surface inside the matching cabinet. PP0504 fits the 500 × 400 mm Metalbox, while the plate itself is 460 × 340 mm. The enclosure size and plate size are different measurements.
Match the cabinet reference before laying out the equipment.
A perforated plate is a support, not a DIN-rail chassis or a protective device.
Slotted wiring ducts
G4040 to G8080 offer 40 × 40 to 80 × 80 mm sections with covers. Side slots let control wiring branch toward terminals inside an enclosure, a different role from a long supported cable route.
Plan wire fill and access to terminals.
These internal wiring ducts are not presented as weatherproof external cable trays.
PVC skirting trunking and fittings
The 60 × 40 mm trunking uses dedicated internal, external, flat and T angles plus an end cap. The 2022 IPS catalogue gives IP40 and IK07; an older standalone sheet gives IP43. Use the document supplied for the finished configuration.
Keep corners and terminations in the same 60 × 40 family.
PVC trunking is not automatically rated for exposed rooftop PV wiring.
Perforated steel cable trays and covers
The listed trays span 65 × 33 to 305 × 63 mm. Wider references also change sheet thickness: 0.5, 0.8 or 1 mm across our selection. Covers are separate references; 125/33NC is not assumed to fit a 125/63N tray just because both are 125 mm wide.
Select the support span, load and cover from the exact reference table.
Galvanizing alone does not establish marine suitability or a universal load capacity.

The Metalbox sheet states IP55 and IK10 and describes the cable-entry arrangement. This helps qualify the empty cabinet before equipment and penetrations change the finished assembly.
The plate table distinguishes cabinet size from actual plate dimensions. PP0504’s 460 × 340 mm support makes the available mounting area explicit instead of treating the cabinet’s outside dimensions as usable space.
Slotted ducts organize internal wiring; skirting trunking finishes surface routes; metal trays carry supported cable runs. Selecting by function avoids using one material or shape for every part of the installation.

No. Our listed references are empty cabinets. AC/DC protective devices, terminals, cable entries and any assembly service need their own specification and quotation.
They can serve as enclosure, mounting and cable-management components when the exact reference suits the environment and assembly. That role does not make a PVC duct or empty cabinet a PV-rated protective device.
Family construction and suffixes also matter. A plate is sized for its cabinet; a cover must match the tray profile. Our 125/33NC cover is not automatically paired with a 125/63N tray.
